HomeKit Support for Robot Vacuums Delayed to 2025

Apple has officially postponed HomeKit integration for robot vacuum cleaners to early 2025. Initially slated for an iOS 18 update in 2024, this feature will enable users to control compatible robot vacuums through the Home app and Siri voice commands (limited to U.S. English).

This delay follows the Matter 1.2 standard, which includes support for robot vacuums. Users will likely be able to initiate cleaning, create automations, and manage scenes directly within the Home app. Roborock has already confirmed plans to integrate HomeKit with its S8 MaxV Ultra. Other iOS 18 Features Also Delayed

Several other iOS 18 features have also been pushed back, including Apple Intelligence features and advanced Siri functionalities. These are now expected in 2025. This isn't the first time Apple has delayed features, as seen with iOS 18.1.1 Issues and the Promise of iOS 18.2. For those interested in Apple deals, see Extended Apple Deals Post-Black Friday.

iOS 18 is currently available for iPhone XR and later. Users can update their devices via Settings > General > Software Update.
