Holiday Gift-Giving Trends for Apple Products

Apple Devices Aren't Primarily Gifts

A survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) reveals that Apple products, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, are not commonly given as gifts. This challenges the perception of Apple devices as popular holiday presents. See Apple's Black Friday deals.

Holiday Season Impact

While gifting rates remain generally low, the holiday season sees a slight increase for iPads and Apple Watches. During the December 2023 quarter, 9% of Apple Watch owners and 6% of iPad owners received their devices as gifts, compared to 2% in other quarters. Gifting rates for iPhones and Macs remained consistently low. Find Black Friday MacBook deals.

"Nice to Have" vs. "Expensive and Personal"

The survey suggests that iPads and Apple Watches are more likely to be gifted due to their affordability and non-essential nature. Conversely, iPhones and Macs are considered expensive and personal, making them less suitable as gifts. The ongoing costs associated with iPhones, such as carrier charges, further discourage gifting.
