Google Partners with AP for Real-Time News in Gemini App
Google's Gemini app is getting a boost in real-time news delivery through a new partnership with The Associated Press (AP). This collaboration aims to provide users with up-to-date information directly within the app, enhancing the usefulness of search results, especially for current events. This builds upon the existing relationship between Google and AP, where AP already provides news for Google Search. Gemini App Extensions Expand Functionality
Google has also updated the Gemini Extensions website (gemini.google.com/extensions) with new categories, including Productivity (Google Workspace), Travel (Google Flights, Hotels, and Maps), Media (YouTube and YouTube Music), and Learning (OpenStax). This structured approach improves navigation and access to various functionalities, especially on Android devices with numerous extensions. This is reminiscent of other app integrations, such as Google Wallet unlocking hotel rooms.
Simplified User Interface for Gemini on Android
Google has streamlined the user interface on Android devices by simplifying the suggestion chips for Gemini. Phrases like "Ask about this screen" and "Ask about this PDF" have been shortened by removing "this," making interactions more concise. This change is currently available in the latest Google app beta. For more on user interface improvements, check out Google Messages profile customization updates.
