Google Keep Returns to Single-Tap Note Creation

Google Keep is bringing back the single-tap note creation feature for Android users. This update addresses user feedback regarding the two-step process introduced in November's redesign, which required an extra tap to select the note type.

Simplified Note Taking

The new setting, "Create text notes with a single tap," allows users to instantly create a text note by tapping the floating action button (FAB). Other note types (list, drawing, image) remain accessible via a menu in the bottom-left corner. This change combines the benefits of the redesign with the convenience of quick text note creation.

Addressing User Feedback

The two-step process introduced in the November redesign disrupted established user habits and occasionally led to accidental menu closures. This update demonstrates Google's responsiveness to user feedback and its commitment to improving the Keep experience. For more productivity tips, check out Hidden Android Productivity Hacks.

Availability

The single-tap setting was discovered in Google Keep version 5.25.014.x but is not yet widely available. A server-side update is likely required before all users can access this feature. You can find more information about Android updates in this article about Android's Find My Device Network.
