Dongfeng and Huawei Partner to Develop Smart EVs
Huawei and Dongfeng Motor Corporation have joined forces to develop a new line of mid-range and high-end smart electric vehicles (EVs). This partnership aims to create a superior smart travel experience, exceeding current offerings in the EV market.
Dongfeng, known for brands like Voyah (developed with Huawei's advanced driving solutions), will expand its Yipai brand through this collaboration. The agreement was signed at Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen.
Yipai Brand Expansion
Launched in 2023, the Yipai brand currently includes the Yipai (eπ) 007 sedan and eπ 008 crossover. While achieving 45,447 unit sales last year, Yipai lags behind Huawei's AITO brand, which sold 385,904 units. This disparity likely influenced Dongfeng's decision to partner with Huawei.
The Voyah Dreamer, co-developed with Huawei, saw increased sales in late 2024, further demonstrating the potential of collaborating with Huawei's Smart Automotive Solutions Group. Similar integrations of AI technology are becoming increasingly prevalent in the automotive industry.
Partnership Goals
This partnership will focus on several key areas:
- Smart car product development
- Marketing and ecological services
- Creating a cutting-edge smart travel experience
- Jointly developing a series of mid-to-high-end smart vehicles
This collaboration signifies a significant step towards advancing smart EV technology and enhancing the overall user experience. The combined expertise of Huawei and Dongfeng promises to deliver innovative and competitive products in the rapidly evolving EV market.
