HyperOS 2: Enhanced Features and Security
Improved User Experience
Xiaomi's HyperOS 2 introduces several enhancements based on user feedback. The update optimizes the photo album for greater customization, including showing/hiding smart albums and displaying total photo/video counts. The Recorder app will soon categorize recordings by type (All, Recorder, Calls, Applications). The Redmi K80 series also benefits from these updates.
AI Integration and Power Saving
HyperOS 2 integrates AI for voice recognition transcription and copying, currently in testing and expected to launch soon. Users can also customize power-saving strategies for individual apps. The Xiaomi Mutual Transfer function now displays device model names for easier file transfer.
Customization Options
Users can resize icons for over 200 apps, including both first-party (Phone, Calendar, Mi Home) and third-party apps (WeChat, TikTok, Taobao). This level of customization extends to the photo album and power-saving features.
Security and Privacy Focus
HyperOS 2 prioritizes security with end-to-end encryption for Xiaomi Cloud Service data. A 28-digit security key protects encrypted data, and AI tasks prioritize local processing with sensitive data encrypted at the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) level. Xiaomi's focus on security is evident in these features. For more details on the update process, especially for devices like the Redmi K80, refer to official Xiaomi resources.
Update Timeline
The AI voice recognition, enhanced Recorder app categorization, and photo album optimizations are expected to arrive between late December 2024 and January 2025.
