Expected Mac Studio Updates

Enhanced Performance and Connectivity

Apple is anticipated to release a new Mac Studio featuring significant upgrades. The updated model is expected to include Thunderbolt 5 ports, offering speeds up to 120Gb/s, similar to the M4 Pro Mac mini and high-end MacBook Pros. This enhancement will enable faster external storage, expansion chassis, and powerful docking solutions. Additionally, the new Mac Studio might support Wi-Fi 7, with speeds up to 46 Gbps, five times faster than Wi-Fi 6E.

M4 Max and M4 Ultra Chips

The upcoming Mac Studio is projected to house the powerful M4 Max and M4 Ultra chips. The M4 Max, already present in the new MacBook Pro, boasts a 16-core CPU and 40-core GPU. The M4 Ultra is expected to double that, featuring a 32-core CPU and 80-core GPU, thanks to Apple’s UltraFusion technology. This upgrade will likely position the new Mac Studio as the fastest desktop Mac, surpassing the current M4 Pro Mac mini.

Release Date

According to industry sources, the new Mac Studio is expected to launch in the first half of 2025, possibly during WWDC25. This release will address the current performance gap between the Mac Studio and the M4 Pro Mac mini. For those interested in other Apple devices, check out the latest news on the iPhone.
