OnePlus 13 Global Launch: Magnetic Accessories, But No Qi2 Charging
The OnePlus 13 is set for a global release, featuring a revamped design with a flat display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and new colors. While it won't be among the first major smartphones with Qi2 charging, it will support magnetic accessories.
A WPC listing confirms that the global variant will use the Qi 1.3.3 spec instead of Qi2. This means no built-in magnets for charging alignment, although the Qi2 standard doesn't strictly require them. Currently, the HMD Skyline is the sole Android smartphone with Qi2, alongside iPhones.
However, OnePlus will offer magnetic accessories enabled by first-party cases with magnetic rings. Similar to Oppo's "Mag" accessories, these cases are expected to be compatible with other MagSafe and Qi2 accessories globally. The OnePlus 13's global launch is slated for January 2025. You can compare it with other top smartphones in our article: Best Smartphones for Battery Life in 2024.
