OnePlus Watch 3 to Get Smaller Size and LTE Variant Later This Year
The OnePlus Watch 3, launched last week, boasts impressive battery life and notable improvements. However, it missed two key features: a smaller size option and LTE support. A recent interview revealed that OnePlus plans to address these omissions later this year.
While the Watch 3 offers a larger battery, improved hardware, and enhanced health features, its 47mm chassis is considered too large by some users. Dr. Leo Zhang, Head of R&D at OnePlus Health Lab, acknowledged this concern and hinted at a smaller version coming soon. It remains unclear whether this will be a new model or simply a smaller variant of the existing Watch 3. Another missing feature, LTE support, is also being addressed. While the Chinese version offers LTE, global models lack this functionality due to carrier partnerships. Dr. Zhang confirmed OnePlus is working to overcome this hurdle, particularly in Europe. This development could make the OnePlus Watch 3 a more compelling competitor to devices with cellular connectivity, such as those highlighted in 8 Years of Android Updates for Snapdragon Devices.
The OnePlus Watch 2R launched a few months after the Watch 2, suggesting a similar timeline for these Watch 3 variants. Currently, Watch 3 orders are temporarily paused due to a packaging error. In the meantime, explore other options like the OnePlus Open.
