Revel Expands EV Charging Network to JFK Airport

Revel is significantly expanding its EV charging presence at JFK International Airport. The company has commenced construction on a new charging station, adding 24 fast chargers and doubling the airport's current EV charging capacity. This project marks Revel's second collaboration with the New York Port Authority, with another charging station underway at LaGuardia Airport. Both stations are slated for completion in 2025.

Strategic Placement and Charging Capabilities

The new JFK charging station, located at the airport's west cell phone lot, will offer both CCS and NACS connectors, catering to a wide range of EV models. This strategic location aims to serve ride-hail drivers, including Revel's own fleet, while they await passenger arrivals. The fast chargers promise a quick 20% to 80% charge within 15-20 minutes.

Revel's Expanding Charging Network

This expansion builds upon Revel's existing network of four 24/7 public fast charging stations across Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens, totaling 64 ports. With plans for five additional stations, including those at JFK and LaGuardia, Revel aims to provide comprehensive charging coverage throughout New York City. The company's business model integrates ride-hail services with charging infrastructure, ensuring high utilization rates. Revel's charging stations serve both its drivers and other EV owners, including those from competing ride-hail platforms like Uber, with whom Revel has a partnership. Recently, Revel also partnered with Toyota, offering free charging access to Toyota and Lexus EV owners. For insights into other charging solutions, see FileJump 2TB Cloud Storage.

Funding and Future Expansion

Revel is self-funding the JFK charging station installation. Having raised approximately $275 million to date, the company is actively seeking further investment to fuel its expansion plans. Beyond New York, Revel is broadening its reach with a charging station in San Francisco, set to open in Q1 2025, and another planned for Los Angeles in 2026. The company has secured eight site leases in the Bay Area, with ambitions to establish over 100 charging ports in the region. This expansion aligns with broader industry trends, as seen with Eve bringing Matter-enabled smart home technology to Android.
