WhatsApp Introduces New Call Dialer for iPhone

WhatsApp is rolling out a new in-app call dialer for iPhone users, similar to the default iPhone dialer. This feature allows users to call any WhatsApp-registered number without adding it to their contacts first. The dialer is accessible via the '+' button in the Calls tab.

Enhanced Calling Features

This update streamlines the calling process, moving WhatsApp closer to being a potential replacement for Apple's Phone app. With iOS 18.2 enabling third-party call defaults, WhatsApp may soon support this functionality. Meta is also improving call quality, particularly video resolution, and enabling calls to specific group chat members. Availability

The call dialer is currently available to beta users via TestFlight. This comes alongside other recent updates like improved video call backgrounds and filters. For related news, see iOS 18 Rollout Challenges.

WhatsApp for iPad and Other Updates

While this feature enhances the iPhone experience, the promised WhatsApp for iPad is still pending. For more on Apple-related news, see Apple's 2025 Product Roadmap.
