Seamless Device Switching: Windows 11 Gets Continuity Feature

Microsoft introduces a Handoff-like feature in Windows 11, enabling smooth transitions between smartphones and PCs for OneDrive documents. This new functionality lets users continue working on a document from their phone directly on their Windows 11 PC.

How It Works

Upon unlocking your PC, a notification appears if a OneDrive file was recently viewed or edited on your phone. Clicking the notification opens the document instantly. The file must be open on the phone and accessed within five minutes of unlocking the PC. This feature currently supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and PDF files. Limitations and Requirements

Currently limited to personal Microsoft accounts, this feature does not support work or school accounts. This restriction might impact business users. For more on Microsoft updates, see Samsung's update policy for their devices.

Enhanced Productivity and Future Potential

This update streamlines workflow by reducing disruptions when switching between devices. While currently focused on OneDrive files, Microsoft aims to expand file type and account support in the future. This feature marks a step towards better PC and mobile integration.
