Xiaomi YU7 Specs Revealed, Set to Rival Tesla Model Y

Performance and Range

The Xiaomi YU7 electric car, launching in June or July, will come in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) versions. The AWD boasts a powerful 220 kW (295 hp) front motor and a 288 kW (386 hp) rear motor, reaching a top speed of 253 km/h. It features ternary lithium batteries and offers three CLTC range estimates: 750 km, 760 km, and 670 km. The RWD version has a 235 kW (315 hp) rear motor, uses lithium-iron phosphate batteries, and has a top speed of 240 km/h. Design and Features

The YU7 measures 4.99 meters long, 1.99 meters wide, and 1.60 meters tall, with a 3.00-meter wheelbase. Spy photos suggest potential Standard, Pro, and Max versions. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor hints at Xiaomi's in-house ADAS. Inside, an ultra-wide screen dominates the cockpit. This advanced technology echoes advancements in other areas, such as ChatGPT's deep research capabilities.

Market Positioning and Outlook

Following the success of the Xiaomi SU7, which consistently surpassed 20,000 monthly deliveries, the YU7 aims to further boost Xiaomi's electric vehicle sales. The company's expansion, with 216 stores across 64 Chinese cities, supports this goal. The YU7's estimated starting price is RMB 250,000 (about €31,100), positioning it as a competitor to the Tesla Model Y. This competitive landscape is similar to the smartphone market, as seen with the Vivo V50, which balances power and affordability.
