YouTube Rolls Out Customizable Playback Speed on Desktop
The YouTube website now offers fine-tuned playback speed controls, matching the functionality available on Android and iOS devices. Users can adjust the playback speed in 0.05x increments, ranging from 0.25x to 2.00x, using a new slider in the video player settings. This provides greater flexibility compared to the previous fixed increments.
The new "Custom" speed option appears at the top of the Playback speed menu, followed by the existing preset options. This change, while making the menu slightly busier, offers a consistent experience across different platforms. The selected custom speed persists across videos within a single browsing session. This update follows similar playback speed enhancements introduced on Android and iOS platforms last month, further unifying the YouTube experience.
