YouTube Music Bug Duplicates November Badges Instead of Issuing December Badges

What Happened?

YouTube Music users encountered a bug where their November Top Listener badges were duplicated instead of receiving new badges for December. The issue appeared on the second or third day of January, the typical timeframe for new badges. Related: January 2025 tech updates

How to Access Badges

Users can view their badges by opening the YouTube Music app (Android or iOS), tapping their profile avatar in the top-right corner, and selecting "Badges." Sharing and saving badge images is also possible.

About Top Listener Badges

These badges recognize users who are among the top listeners for a particular artist or band in a given month. The badge indicates the user's percentile rank and features a portrait graphic. See what features users want in apps.

Other YouTube Badges

Besides music, YouTube offers badges for early channel memberships, completing quizzes, and having comments hearted by creators. These can be accessed through both the YouTube and YouTube Music apps.

Looking Ahead

The badge duplication is a recognized bug, and YouTube is expected to resolve the issue and distribute the correct December badges soon. This feature has generally been well-received by users. Check out other app updates.
