YouTube TV Miniplayer Gets a Modern Update on Android

The YouTube TV app for Android phones and tablets now has a new miniplayer, similar to the main YouTube app's picture-in-picture mode. This update replaces the old bottom-docked miniplayer with a more user-friendly, resizable window.

Previously, the miniplayer was a narrow bar at the bottom of the screen, showing a wide crop of the video. The new version is a floating window with playback controls and a close button. Tapping the center expands the video.

Like the main YouTube app, you can pinch-to-zoom and expand the miniplayer to full-width. This offers a much better viewing experience compared to the previous limited view. The new miniplayer is available with version 8.47.0 of the YouTube TV Android app.

This update brings the YouTube TV app in line with other YouTube apps, creating a more consistent user experience. It makes multitasking within the app while watching videos much easier.
