Amazon Fire TV Enhances Accessibility with Dual Audio and More

Dual Audio for Shared Viewing

Amazon's Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series now offers Dual Audio, enabling a user with a hearing aid to listen simultaneously with others using the TV's speakers. This feature enhances the shared viewing experience for hard-of-hearing users. While other Fire TV devices support Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA), the Omni Mini-LED series is the first to offer dual audio output. This feature will be available soon.

Expanded Hearing Aid Compatibility

Amazon has partnered with WS Audiology (WSA) to broaden ASHA support to more hearing aid models, including Widex Moment BTE and RIC devices. This allows direct audio streaming from compatible Fire TVs, such as the Omni Mini-LED and QLED Series, Fire TV Cube, Fire TV 4 and 2-Series, and the Omni Series. For more on related technology, see Wear OS Update.

Accessible Packaging

Amazon has implemented tactile-marked QR codes on select device packaging. These codes, with raised UV dots, aid users with visual impairments. They are located on the back panel's top left corner, alongside the Quick Start Guide. This accessible packaging is rolling out for Fire TVs, Echo Shows, and Kindles (Paperwhite, Colorsoft, and Scribe).
