Amp Robotics Secures $91 Million to Automate Recycling

Recycling rates remain low, with only about 32% of recyclable waste actually being processed. Robotics companies like Amp Robotics are stepping in to automate and improve this process.

Amp Robotics, a leader in the field, has shifted its focus to operating entire recycling facilities. This move has secured them $91 million in Series D funding, led by Congruent Ventures with participation from various investors.

The company has deployed around 400 robots and currently operates three facilities, with a fourth in development. Their system uses AI-powered cameras and robotic arms to identify and sort recyclable materials from conveyor belts. Amp Robotics offers a "recycling-as-a-service" model, charging per ton of waste sorted.

This funding follows a Series C round that raised $104 million. The slightly smaller Series D round reflects the current challenging fundraising environment for startups. This innovative approach could revolutionize the recycling industry, similar to how other technologies are changing industries, as discussed in Beyond AI: Vogels' 2025 Tech Predictions.

While the funding is substantial, it's less than their previous round, possibly due to the current economic climate. This investment highlights the growing interest in sustainable technology and the potential of AI to address global challenges.
