Apple Delays HomePod with Display to Late 2025
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the launch of the HomePod with a display has been delayed to Q3 2025 due to software development challenges. This marks the third delay, initially slated for 2024, then 1H 2025, and now late 2025.
Rumors of a HomePod with a display have circulated since 2022, with initial concepts involving an iPad dock. More recent reports suggest a standalone device with a 7-inch display, similar to the Amazon Echo Show, or potentially a wall-mounted display. Leaked photos of prototypes seem to confirm the existence of a large touchscreen.
The device is expected to feature the A18 processor, a 6-7 inch display, and support for Apple Intelligence. This suggests Apple is shifting the HomePod's focus from a speaker to a smart home hub. For more on Apple's smart home strategy, see Apple Delays HomeKit for Robot Vacuums to 2025.
While the exact form factor and launch date remain uncertain, the repeated delays and evolving concepts highlight Apple's ongoing commitment to the smart home market. This new HomePod could integrate seamlessly with other Apple devices, such as the Apple Watch, which recently received a software update.
