Gemini App for iPhone Updated with Experimental Model and New Extensions

Google has released an update for the Gemini app on iPhone, introducing the Gemini 2.0 Flash Experimental model. This experimental model promises improved performance compared to the 1.5 Pro, offering faster speeds and enhanced assistance. Similar advancements in app performance are also being seen in Android 16 DP2.

The update also includes two new extensions: Google Home and Google Photos. The Google Home extension allows users to control their smart home devices directly within the Gemini app. This aligns with recent trends in smart home integration, such as the new access levels in the Google Home app. The Google Photos extension provides access to photos for analysis within Gemini.

Additional features include access to saved information, conversation starters, and expanded language support for both the app and Gemini Live. The experimental model is expected to reach general availability in January 2025.
