iOS 18.2 Released with New Features
iOS 18.2 is now available, bringing several enhancements beyond the headlining Apple Intelligence features. This update is compatible with all iPhones supporting iOS 18.
Key Features:
- iPhone 16 Camera Control Upgrades: Two-stage shutter for focus and exposure lock, adjustable double-click speed, and an option to open the camera with a single press regardless of screen state.
- Mail App Redesign: On-device categorization (Primary, Transactions, Updates, Promotions), digest view for business emails, and notification badge options for the Primary category.
- Find My Upgrades: Shareable location links for misplaced AirTags, with growing airline partnerships for lost luggage tracking. This is similar to the privacy enhancements seen in Google Maps Timeline.
- Volume Limit Setting: Set a maximum volume for the iPhone's built-in speaker.
- Volume Slider Returns to Lock Screen: Option to permanently display the volume slider.
- New Voice Memos Features (iPhone 16 Pro): Layered recording and editing capabilities.
- Photos App Changes: Improved video navigation and scrubbing, streamlined Collections view navigation, and clear history options for Recently Viewed and Shared albums.
- Other Enhancements: Deletable default apps, default app settings for Messaging and Calling, "Type to Siri" widget, browsing history import/export in Safari, favorite categories in Podcasts, iPhone Mirroring while using hotspot, new Fitness Shortcuts actions, and Sudoku for News+ subscribers.
