Threads Introduces New Media Resharing Feature
Threads users can now easily reshare photos and videos with their own commentary using the new "Use media" option. This feature directly integrates the original media into a new post, giving credit to the original poster in the top-left corner. iOS 18.3 Public Beta 1: What's New (So Far) also introduces new sharing options.
How to Reshare Media on Threads
To reshare, long-press on the media or tap the repost button. "Use media" appears as a new option alongside "Repost" and "Quote." This update simplifies content sharing, similar to features found in Gemini App Update: New Model, Extensions, and Languages.
Creator Concerns and Settings
Some creators expressed concerns about unwanted resharing. Threads clarified that users can disable media reuse and control who can quote-post their content in the app's settings. This addresses similar privacy concerns raised with Supreme Court to Hear TikTok's Challenge Against US Ban.
Rollout and Feedback
The feature is currently rolling out to all Threads users. While not explicitly labeled as a test, Threads welcomes user feedback on this new functionality.
