Airlines Integrate Apple AirTag Tracking for Lost Luggage
United and Air Canada have partnered with Apple to integrate AirTag tracking directly into their customer service systems. This new feature allows travelers to share the precise location of their AirTags with airline staff to expedite the process of finding lost or delayed luggage. Learn more about United App integration with AirTag.
How it Works
Using iOS 18.2 or later, travelers can generate a secure, time-limited location-sharing link directly from the Find My app. This link can then be shared with customer service representatives, providing real-time location data for lost AirTagged bags. The feature is end-to-end encrypted, ensuring privacy. Check out the latest iOS updates.
Benefits and Future Expansion
This integration addresses previous issues where discrepancies existed between AirTag locations and airline tracking systems. While United and Air Canada are the launch partners, Apple plans to expand this feature to other airlines, including major carriers like Delta, Lufthansa, and British Airways.
