Gboard Revamps Emoji Kitchen with Sleek Redesign

Google has launched a redesigned Emoji Kitchen for Gboard on Android. This update features a new top row in the Emoji tab displaying combination suggestions. Tapping a suggestion reveals the two emojis used in the combination. A left-hand arrow now leads to a "Browse" screen showcasing all emoji mashups, replacing the previous settings gear. The bottom-right FAB opens an emoji picker to explore combinations based on a chosen emoji. History can be accessed in the top-right corner.

This server-side update is currently available in the latest Gboard beta (14.8) and is expected to roll out widely to all Android devices, not just Pixels. For more on Gboard and its integrations, check out Pixel Screenshots App Update: Gboard Integration and UI Enhancements.

This redesign simplifies emoji combination discovery and creation. The update also streamlines navigation with intuitive access to browsing, history, and the emoji picker. To learn about other recent Gboard updates, see Pixel Studio 1.4: Gboard Integration and Enhanced Sticker Creation.
