iPhone 17 Air: Thinner Design, Compromised Specs?

Rumors suggest Apple's iPhone 17 Air will prioritize a dramatically thinner design, potentially using a blend of aluminum and titanium. This sleekness, however, may come at the expense of high-end features.

Display and Camera

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to have a 6.55-inch ProMotion display with a smaller cutout for the front camera and sensors, possibly due to new "metalens" technology. A single 48MP rear camera, potentially relocated to the top center, is expected, a significant departure from previous iPhones. The front camera is rumored to be upgraded to 24MP. A new, more scratch-resistant and anti-reflective coating is also rumored for the display.

Performance and Modem

The iPhone 17 Air will likely use the A19 chip with 8GB of RAM, compared to the A19 Pro and 12GB RAM expected in the Pro models. It may also be among the first iPhones with Apple's own 5G modem, though it might lack mmWave support. For more on Apple's incremental upgrades, see Apple's 2025 Plans.

Pricing and Release

Pricing rumors are conflicting, with some suggesting a higher price point than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, while others predict it will replace the iPhone 16 Plus. The release is anticipated around September 2025. For insights on potential iPhone 16E rebranding, see iPhone 16E Rumors. Considering a new iPhone? Check out Apple's Discounts.
