Threads Expands Fediverse Integration
Meta's Threads microblogging platform has rolled out a significant update, enhancing its integration with the fediverse. Users can now follow accounts from other fediverses, bringing posts from these accounts directly into their Threads timeline. Notifications for fediverse accounts are also supported.
Following and Interaction
Currently, following is limited to fediverse accounts that have interacted with the user on Threads. Direct searching for fediverse profiles or replying to fediverse posts from Threads is not yet possible, but Meta plans to add these features in the future. This update marks a substantial improvement over the previous integration, which only allowed sharing Threads posts to the fediverse and viewing fediverse replies and likes.
Recent Threads Developments
This update coincides with growth in competing platforms like HyperOS 2. Recent additions to Threads include custom feeds based on user interests, full-screen landscape video playback, and testing for user-selectable default feeds. Availability
The updated Threads app is available for free on the App Store. Ensure you have the latest version installed to access the new features.
